Considering buying a Worcester Bosch combi boiler, but not sure if it’s the right investment? No problem!
This quick-fire guide will help you understand the type of Worcester you need, the benefits of a new boiler, how much it costs, and how to pay for it.
Which Worcester Bosch Combi Boiler Do You Need?
If you’ve already been researching Worcester Bosch combi boilers, you’ll know there are a tonne to choose from. From an installer perspective, that’s good news. It means there’s a Worcester suitable for almost every property.
However, it does make choosing the right boiler difficult for homeowners. Worcester have lots of different ranges, and here are the two most popular.
Greenstar i
The Greenstar i is the basic Worcester range. For example, their 25i is perfect for small properties such as those with 1 shower, and 1-2 bedrooms. We find the 30i is more popular, as it can cover a wider range of properties. You’d expect the Greenstar 30i to power a property with 1 shower, and up to 3 bedrooms. There are alternatives for those looking for a boiler suited to bigger properties – the CDi range for instance.
CDi Compact
The CDi Compact differs slightly from both the i and standard CDi range. That’s because Worcester have designed this range specifically for those looking to fit their boiler in small spaces. A typical example here would be a small kitchen cupboard. The standard Greenstar i boilers are too large, and that’s why Worcester created the CDi Compact.
Benefits Of Replacing Your Boiler
Replacing a boiler is a huge expense. However, what most people don’t think of is the money that’s saved by replacing an old unit, with an efficient Worcester Bosch combi boiler.
Repair Costs
What you’ll notice straight away, is you’re not subject to repair bills. And, if you’ve had a boiler repaired in the past you’ll know that repair bills can head towards £500 and beyond. All new Worcester Bosch combi boilers come with a warranty (up to 12 years), and that means during this warranty period, any manufacturing default will be fixed free of charge.
Energy Efficiency
Newer condensing Worcester Bosch combi boilers are hugely efficient when compared with old ones. A study conducted by the Energy Saving Trust found that a G-rated boiler in a detached property would cost up to £320 per year more to run, when directly compared to a newer A-rated boiler.
And, all new Worcester combi boilers are A-rated. So, not only will you be saving yourself the heartache of large repair bills, but you’ll see savings on gas and electricity too.
Cheap Alternatives To Worcester Bosch Combi Boilers
There are some cheaper alternatives to Worcester Bosch combi boilers.
Generally, they’re split into two categories:
- Boilers that offer excellent value for money
- Boiler brands we prefer to avoid
Unfortunately, you really do get what you pay for. There are a lot of cheap but low-quality brands on the market today, and those are the exact brands we want to avoid. In fact, some of the boilers we remove, the manufacturer no longer exists. The fact that we remove Worcester Bosch boilers that are 20+ years old and the brand still exists, is a testament to their quality. However, if you really are on a budget and can deal with slightly inferior technical support, Ideal Boilers are a great alternative.
They’re slightly cheaper than Worcester Bosch and have reasonable warranties (2-12 years). So, if you’re looking for the best of the best and have the budget, go for Worcester. But if you’re on a tight budget, Ideal Boilers could be an option. That said, we’ve introduced finance packages (explained below) allowing every one of our customers to have a Worcester Bosch combi boiler fitted, on a payment plan that suits them.
How Much Does It Cost To Fit A Worcester Bosch Combi Boiler?
The biggest question we get asked, is how much a Worcester Bosch combi boiler is going to cost to be fitted. This is really an open-ended question. Without visiting the property, it’s hard to give an accurate quote.
For instance:
- What size boiler does your property need, and what does that boiler cost?
- Do you need to upgrade from a system or regular, to a Worcester Bosch combi boiler?
- Are you planning on moving the boiler to a new location?
- Is your gas main inline with current Gas Safe standards, or does it need to be upgraded?
- The list goes on…
As you can see, there are dozens of things that can affect the complexity and therefore, the cost of a new boiler installation. Typically, we’d expect 2-3 bedroom properties needing a boiler to power just one shower, to cost in the region of £2,200-£2,600.
